Wax’d: 23/04/10

March 28, 2010

Friday 23 April 2010
9pm – 2am
Public Life
Free before 11pm/£3 after

Chicago -> Detroit -> Berlin -> Shoreditch…

After a well-earned month’s break, Wax’d returns to Public Life – the scene of February’s debauchery – on Friday 23 April.

Shoreditch’s infamous former public toilet proved a perfect match for the deep, low-slung beats and our over-zealous smoke machine – so much so that we decided to do it all again.

Expect the deepest house sounds of Chicago and Detroit as the residents spin their inimitable blend of forgotten gems and modern cuts, all with a firm foot in the underground.

The toilet fills up very fast so get yourselves down early – entry is free before 11 and we roll on through to the early hours. See you down the front!

Line up:

Nick P Warren (Wax’d)
Andy Richardson (Wax’d)
Chris Wan (earPIPE)

Mixes from the residents

March 28, 2010

New mix here from Wax’d resident Nick P Warren. This is something we’re going to be doing more regularly, so keep your eyes out for more in the coming months.

Recorded on a couple of 1210s and a mixer, with the aid of a few cups of coffee, it’s a little rough around the edges but features a few of the cuts that haven’t left the record box in the last few months.

Nick P Warren – Rough Promo Mix, March 2010

1. Big Strick – Black Talk (FXHE)

2. Smallpeople – Before Leaving to Paris (Laid)

3. Miles Sagnia – Relativity (Aesthetic Audio)

4. Steffi – Kill Me (Instrumental) (Ostgut Ton)

5. Rick ‘Poppa’ Howard – I Won’t Ever Lay Back (Hour House is Your Rush)

6. Smallpeople – Rites of Passage (Laid)

So a massive thank you to everyone who came down to Public Life the other Friday and made it our best Wax’d yet! We had so much fun that we will be returning to the toilet on Friday 23 April – watch this space for more info nearer the time!

In the meantime, check out some photos from Friday here.

Some Thursday afternoon slabs of (virtual) wax for your listening pleasure. The latter has just cost me £35 on Discogs. Ouch:
